I’m loosely following this tutorial. The biggest difference being that I’m not doing as much as she did. This was the pile of strips after I finished cutting:
In hindsight I should have not folded the fabric before cutting, it made for some difficult curves to sew. I also didn’t get as many angular pieces as I wanted.
Here are the strips on the design wall. On the left I sorted the strips by brightness, then I put them the way I wanted to sew them together. That decision was quick, I just put colors next to ones I thought looked nice.
The strip sets sewn together. I’m not happy with the stitches on the first few strips. I was having trouble keeping the edges together. The next sewing session will include a lot of ironing.
Pretty colors, right? I had to get it.
