October block challenge

Our guild’s due-in-October block challenge, thought up by our October guest speaker¬†Alissa Haight Carlton, is to¬†make a quilt block using negative space in an interesting and innovative way. Some of the jokes I threw around during the guild meeting were to make no block at all or to make a block that’s just a solid square of white fabric. Then I had a cunning plan: why not a block that’s created of all negative space? Instead of one square of white I’d use white strips from previous blocks and a darker thread to give make the borders between pieces more evident.
