Saturday at Sew Modern

On Saturday we attended a class at Sew Modern taught by Lauren, the owner. It was a paper piecing class using Carolyn Friedlander’s Aerial pattern. Lauren is a great teacher and I learned the basics of paper piecing. I didn’t get TONS done because, as usual for a class, I spent too much time talking and […]

QuiltCon Tuesday

I hope QuiltCon registration went adequately for everyone. As a lapsed comic book fan who has attended ComicCon I’m used to the cluster f**k that is registration for a popular event. Registration will be annoying, no matter how much planning goes into it. I took a vacation day to both register without the stress of […]

Hey, That’s Mine!

Last November Heather Grant emailed me and asked if I was interested in having one of my quilts appear in an upcoming book. I was tickled pink. And now, 7 months later, I’m holding that book and I’m somehow tickled even pinker. I’d like to thank Heather, Susanne Woods, and Lucky Spool Media for the opportunity to […]

Summer Solstice Plus One

The June War on WIPs has slowed to a crawl. Besides the run-of-the-mill complications that keep me out of the sewing room my laptop crashed on Tuesday night. Add to this Quilt in Public Day and working on my supplies list for next Saturday’s class and you get squat done. Below are pictures of the […]

Working on WIPs

off centre quilt top done

I finally got this done. It still needs to be squared but the final size should be around 70×70. Now, let’s talk about the back. The original idea for the back was a large version of one of the blocks on the front. This idea just isn’t gonna fly, it’s going to take too damn […]

2nd anniversary

I was checking my earlier posts today (jeez, the new theme really jacked them up) when I noticed that yesterday was the two-year anniversary of this blog (which means I’ve been sewing/quilting for slightly more than two years). I’ll take this opportunity to thank all my readers. I think a celebratory contest is in […]

the lamest of updates

It’s not done yet but it’s much closer. Unless, of course, I buy some more Konas tomorrow before the LAMQG meeting…but pretty sure I won’t do that (maybe). In other news: the LAMQG got a FULL PAGE article in the LA Times’ Saturday edition, how cool is that? In other, other news the workshop/lecture schedule […]
