The last two weeks have been busy around Mad Tesla HQ so I haven’t accomplished much quilt-wise. I pieced a smaller (1/4-ish the size) version of my Homage2 quilt. I’m going to use this quilt top as both a practice quilt for my first attempt at quilting using 28wt thread and because I wanted to work on something small next.
I also tested a bit using 28 weight thread on my machine. I followed the advice I was given on IG and it worked perfectly! I didn’t change any setting on my Janome but I did use a size 90 needle and 50wt thread in the bobbin (Aurifil white). The 28wt thread is Aurifil #2132 (Tarnished Gold). You know when something works so well that you’re surprised you didn’t spend 4 hours troubleshooting the issue? Yeah, that was me Wednesday afternoon. EDIT: That’s a 3.5 stitch length on my Janome, the default is 2.2.
Last but not least last night we attended the Los Angeles MQG’s 5th anniversary party/quilt show. The organization committee did a great job: the venue is in a picturesque street in LA’s Chinatown and the food and drinks were delicious. Everyone had a blast.
